Cinema du jour, part 8

This is a recurring feature of YouTubeStars. I discuss some videos that were recently added to YouTube, or ones that I've just discovered. We'll start with a News video, then look at two serious films, and end with a comedy!

YTNews 24.8 -06
There are several YouTube members who are now doing news videos. A new and above-average News Program is being made by YTNews. The plan is to have multiple "reporters" who will make short news segments for upcoming News videos. Send a message to YTNews if you would like to get involved! Here is their first News program:

Anorexia: The Physical Devastation
Eating Disorders are common these days. Society promotes the idea that thin people are beautiful, glamorous, popular and happy. But there is a real risk to your health if you take extreme measures to lose weight. Take the time to watch this video by eniwekwe, a 26-year-old woman who has permanent health problems due to Anorexia. It just may save your life!

If you can't see the video above, watch it at YouTube.

Sufficiency
Here is a video by VioletKitty411, a 35-year-old woman who was off work for a year and a half after being involved in a severe car wreck. She was hit by a drunk driver. She has had to deal with the results every day, but her faith gets her through it. Here's a little bit of her story:

If you can't see the video above, watch it at YouTube.

i hate cutiemish
We are going to end this post with a hilarious comedy skit from cutiemish. Instead of her usual adorable lipsynching, she acts out the part of several different "haters" who just don't appreciate cutiemish! Listen to her faux accents; look at her costumes and gestures - you'll get a laugh out of this video!

Two popular YouTube members have fallen in love! We have been hearing parts of this story for the last several weeks from Blunty3000, the male component of this love affair. RE: YouTube Competition - My Girl Is Cool!
Blunty3000 makes a response video to a video about a man who loves his wife and wants 20 people to tell about their "Cool girlfriend/wife". He offers $100 for the best story (the contest is still going on, enter!) He beams as he tells us about his "Mystery Girl"; watch!

Cinema du jour, part 7 - Songs and Dances

This is a recurring feature of YouTubeStars. I discuss some videos that were recently added to YouTube, or ones that I've just discovered. So here's the Movies of the day, part 7 - Songs and Dances.

Goodness Gracious, I Love YouTube
Last night, a cool new video was released by dayoffproductions. This is a film that packs a lot of fun in a little bit of time. A bunch of the better known YouTube members - Geriatric1927, Brookers, FilthyWhore, LittleLoca, Morbeck, Lazydork, Lisa Nova and more - are shown on the video while a clever parody song is sung to the tune of Jerry Lee Lewis' "Great Balls of Fire". If you need one video to show a friend what YouTube is all about, show them this one!

If you can't see the video above, watch it on YouTube.

LonelyGirl: Lazydork is Better Than You
Here's a funny and creative rap video by rickyste who also goes by the name Lazydork. This video came out on August 1st and was featured by YouTube. Now, it's had almost 440 thousand views and over 2600 comments! You'll get a laugh from watching this musical movie!

If you can't see the video above, watch it on YouTube.

Re: LonelyGirl: Lazydork is Better Than You
TheHill88, a 17-year-old Australian woman named Caitlan, made one of 11 response videos to Lazydork's rap. Her cute appearance and cool rap landed her, too, on YouTube's featured video list. This video, added just 4 days ago, has already had over 740 thousand views, over 6800 comments and 47 response videos! Watch and you'll see why!

If you can't see the video above, watch it on YouTube.

The Re-Evolution of My Musical Tastes
Here's a funny and entertaining video from NamaeganaiFilms, a 23-year-old man living in the US named Marcus. Marcus had to remake this video (hence the "Re-Evolution") because his landlady didn't want his apartment, shown in the original version, to be shown in his videos! The video chronicles Marcus' changing musical tastes over the last several years. He provides a sample of a song or two from each musical genre along with his excellent dance moves. If you loved the famous "Evolution of Dance" video, you'll love this one too!

If you can't see the video above, watch it on YouTube.

Congrats to geriatric1927! Peter, aged 79, is now the #1 Most Subscribed Channel of All Time! If you haven't seen him yet, go watch this gentleman as he talks about his long and interesting life. His style is straightforward, yet captivating. Peter has become an inspiration to the entire YouTube community.

FilthyWhore (Jacci Jageman) is working as an independent contractor for Riffage.com. She does news reports about bands and the music scene. She has a blog at Riffage and has started a new account, riffagedotcom, on YouTube.

There is another new "news" program on YouTube, from Scriggity.com. Their YouTube account is getscriggity. Shauna reads news stories submitted by viewers and periodically pops up to flippantly comment on her own reports. It's hard to describe; you'll have to see it. Watch episode 3 - (8-17-06) on YouTube or on the Scriggity homepage; the third story is about our YouTubeStars thewinekone interview.

Cutiemish has landed a part in an upcoming movie. It has been said that the movie is The Margate Exodus. Congrats, Mishy! She talks about the movie in this video. Learn more about Mishy - read our interview with Cutiemish please.

YouTube itself is always in the news. Today there was an article in The Guardian that talks about YouTube's plans to host every music video ever made. Here are pictures of some of the fine people who have made videos for YouTube. I created this Gallery so that our visitors can see a clearer, bigger picture of YouTube people - something more than they see on the smaller, often grainy videos. Scroll through the list and click on any picture to see a larger version.

If YOU want to get YOUR picture in this gallery, please email a clear, hi-resolution pic (or a link to it), to KennyCrane AT bellsouth DOT net. Include a link to your YouTube profile in the email. I'll be adding more pics as they come in. Show the world that you're a YouTubeStar! Get more traffic to your profile page! Send in your pic today!

Editor's note: We now have 70 pics in the Gallery. Thanks to everyone who sent one in so far!

Cinema du jour, part 6

This is a recurring feature of YouTubeStars. I discuss some videos that were recently added to YouTube, or ones that I've just discovered. So here's the Movies of the day, part 6.

How to make a videoblog
There have been a bunch of videos made about how to be popular on YouTube. This video, by SavannahLioness, a 20-year-old woman from Toronto, is one of the better ones! SavannahLioness has made a spoof of popular vbloggers, including clips of Emmalina, FilthyWhore, Lonelygirl15 and others. There is some good analysis in her humor about how others have become popular! Also see her video, "How to be popular on YouTube" and Blunty3000's video, "Vblog - how to be popular on youtube".

If you can't see the video above, watch it on YouTube.

Re: Who are you....Who, Who...Who, Who
The newest YouTube sensation is a 79-year-old man! Geriatric1927, whose real name is Peter, is a widower who lives in the UK and loves motorcycles. He just joined YouTube a week ago but already has almost 10 Thousand subscribers! Almost everyone shows respect for this gentleman and is happy to hear his wisdom and perspective on life. Watch as he responds to Renetto's "Who are you..." video.

If you can't see the video above, watch it on YouTube.

Healthy Eating series
Another new YouTube member is a 54-year-old Virginia man named Urgelt. Urgelt joined YouTube a month ago and has been inspired by popular videoblogger Thaumata to make his own interesting vlogs. He has made a series on vids on Healthy Eating. He shares information in a helpful and interesting manner. He is not a physician, dietician or nutritionist and neither am I. But I think that people need to examine their diet periodically and see if they can improve it - for better health and weight management. The series begins with episode #1 and contains 10 videos so far! If you don't want to watch them all, at least watch episode #4 and learn how to avoid an excess of sugar and artificial sweeteners in your diet.

Emoticons
Here is a creative and funny video from KwaiChi. We mentioned KwaiChi before when we posted about his Anti-Racism campaign. In this video, he acts out his interpretation of a large collection of Emoticons. Watch it; laugh and learn!

If you can't see the video above, watch it on YouTube.

FRAME
Here is a beautifully made little movie by Swisho, a 23-year-old Wisconsin woman who also has a blogspot blog, here. This 4 minute movie tells the tale of a dead man using interesting "composition and timing". There is no dialogue but none is needed in this well made film. Have a look!

If you can't see the video above, watch it on YouTube.

By the way, SavannahLioness, Urgelt, KwaiChi, Swisho and I are all members of the YouTubeTalk forums. Come join us there and discuss videos like these!

mana122 - YouTube Star!

mana122 is a 5'4" brown eyed girl who lives in Edmonton, Canada. Mana is interested in Anime and helps to run the local Animethon festival each year. She also has her own musical talent management company, "The Smiling Goth Entertainment." Mana is a popular member of the YouTubeTalk.com forum. Watch these four videos (and the one in this post) and see why I'm always saying that Mana is charming and intelligent! They are listed in chronological order. Be sure to watch the last one - Mana sings!

I Am Slowly Going Crazy....1...2...3...4...5...6...
This video is from back in April. In this vlog, a darker haired Mana giggles and talks about her life, her videos and some YouTube members.

If you can't see the video above, watch it at YouTube.

Sickly Mana
Mana was just getting over a sore throat and fever, but she sure looks nice! In this film from May, she vlogs about AIDS charities and about YouTubeTalk.com.

If you can't see the video above, watch it at YouTube.

Blogginess: Stuff Happens
This video is from late July and Mana looks even better! She talks about jobs - one is a volunteer position for "The Fringe" - she will be the stage and tour manager, and her upcoming Birthday! She also mentions that she made a singing video... she posted it a few days later and we have it, below!

If you can't see the video above, watch it at YouTube.

Blogginess: Mana singing BoA's Everlasting :o
Mana sings! This is a video of mana singing BoA's song "Everlasting". She is dressed the same as in her last video but the light seems a bit brighter - giving her the appearance of Anime eyes. This is a "live" performance, no lip synching. Watch her sing in Japanese and express great emotion, you'll love it!

thewinekone interview

Anyone who has been on YouTube for even the shortest time has found out that one of the biggest YouTube Stars is thewinekone! His creativity and self-deprecating humor has made him a favorite with thousands of YouTube viewers. His profile has been viewed around 400 thousand times and he has about 9000 subscribers!

Here is an interview I recently did with thewinekone, with the help of several YouTubeTalk.com members. I opened a thread in my Kenny's Column child board asking for questions for thewinekone. Most of the questions you see below are from the great people who frequent the YouTubeTalk (YTT) forum.

Tony is a great guy and I'd like to thank him for doing this interview!

Hi, thewinekone! Tell us a little about yourself, please.
My name is Tony. My age is 20-something. I like to say 20-something because people go insane over what the actual number is. I’m not sure why people have to know so badly. I am from Ontario, Canada. I am a human being.

(YTT) You live in Toronto, right? Whereabouts? I want to stalk you - I mean... collaborate and work with you. Yeah, that's it.
I am definitely NOT going to fall for that one. Internet people are creepy. Each and every one of them and I will never trust any of them! Except for the girls. They always reel me in with their wooing ways.

How did you first hear about YouTube?
I have no idea how I heard about YouTube. I’ve been doing TWK for years now and I was doing videos before I even knew about YouTube. When I discovered it, I thought that it was a great way to distribute my videos to my friends without having to e-mail them huge files. Then something crazy happened and people I didn’t know started watching them. It’s a weird feeling.

How do you feel about "haters" on YouTube who leave rude comments?
I’m unsure as to why they would leave such rude comments even if I haven’t done anything to them. But such is life (on the Internet).

How have your friends and family reacted to your videos?
I don’t think my friends really care. Except for maybe a handful. I think they’re smart and they realize that this is just the Internet and my 15 minutes were up a long time ago. Wait. What friends?

What else do you like to do in your free time, besides making videos?
Wait. There’s a life outside of making videos? I wish I knew that life...

(YTT) What editing software and camera did you use for your "...And smell the coffee" vid, and on what sort of system?
I used the same editing software and camera that I’ve been using from the beginning - Windows Movie Maker and a Pentax Optio S digital camera. I have a Windows XP system. I also have a PlayStation 2 which doesn’t work and is unrelated to this subject matter, so I will not mention it anymore.

(YTT) What kind of gel do you use in your hair? Also, have you ever made any vids that you've watched back and decided against uploading?
I use Finesse Extra Control Styling Gel. That wasn’t product placement or anything, I swear! I would say pretty much all of the videos I’ve made, I’ve wanted to take back. I always watch them again and think to myself, "I can do better than this" or "My goodness, I’m annoying." I’ve also pulled down some videos before this huge wave of people started viewing my videos. Yes, there are secret videos that not many have seen before.

(YTT) Who is your favorite actor/actress/comedian?
I really don’t have any favourites. No favourites of anything, really. I’m boring like that. But to answer your question, I would say Angelina Jolie, but not for her acting skills. I like her because she uses her fame well. She realizes that whatever she does, it will no doubt make it into the news, so she uses this attention that she gets to get attention on more important matters in the world. She just gives and gives to charities. She seems like a wonderful human being. Except the part where it’s rumoured that she broke up Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston.

(YTT) Were you surprised to get as many views as you do and all the girls who fall in love with you?
Yes, of course I was surprised to get so many views! I honestly don’t know why so many people watch my videos. It truly blows my mind. People around the world are viewing my creations. And yes, girls "falling in love" with me is very truly surprising. Maybe girls fall for me in person and I just don’t know. The Internet makes it so easy to be so blunt and honest to people without any real consequences or awkward moments; maybe that’s why so many admit a crush on me. Although I do think that most of them are just saying it to tease me.

(YTT) Is zippieALBA really the girl of your dreams? :: sniffle ::
Zippie isn’t really the girl of my dreams, no. The girl of my dreams is somewhere out there, who I’ll probably never cross paths with. "My life is lonely / My life is sad."

(YTT) How does it feel to have one foxy chick like Mana122 swoon over you? ^.~
I honestly do not know why a foxy chick like Mana122 would swoon over me. It blows my mind. Any girl who swoons for me blows my mind. I’ve never had such attention from the ladies! No, seriously. I haven’t.

(YTT) Why haven't you married Matsie yet? (Matsie proposed on YouTube!)
I can’t marry someone I don’t even know. We should at least date for a couple of years before that happens! And I’m still waiting for the girl of my dreams to come on by!

(YTT) Why the hell did you let your face get put on a thong? (thewinekone sells merchandise, including thongs, here.)
I put my face on a thong as a joke for my friends over a year ago! I put the link up as a joke and people actually bought the crappy merchandise! Losers!

(YTT) Did anyone actually buy the thong?
As of right now, I know of 4 people who have bought the thong. Amazing and sad at the same time. Wow!

(YTT) What are your plans for the future; what's next in your real life?
I have no idea where my life is headed, actually. I’m currently working temporarily until I go and act in a theatre production next month. After that, I will be lost and looking for a decent job. And of course, I will still be making videos.

(YTT) Do you have some goal in life?
I don’t know exactly when it struck me, but for a long time now, I’ve had this need to entertain people. I’d love to have a job in which I can do what I’m doing now within my videos. Just to try and entertain whoever wants to watch/hear me. I’d love to become a comedic actor, but who knows. I sure don’t.

I just truly want to bring a smile to people’s faces and make them happy. I guess there are a lot of jobs that could offer that to people. I just want to help the world out in some way. Make it a better place because we can clearly see that it’s getting worse by the minute. Maybe I’ll travel the world and help charities. Am I rambling? I’m sorry.

**********

Here are two recent thewinekone videos!
Note: These are not for children.

The Wine Kone - ur realy hott
This video features Tony singing a parody of the James Blunt song, "You're Beautiful". The girl in the video is the beautiful zippieALBA!

If you can't see the video above, watch it at YouTube.

Disproportionate Inappropriateness
This is a quirky, creative, funny video! Watch as Tony talks about women...
