4 Music Videos, 2 of the Same Song

Welcome to YouTubeStars where we write about interesting videomakers and their videos. This time, we have 4 music videos for you. Two of the four are covers of Paperweight by Joshua Radin. The other two videos are original tunes. All are by talented YouTube musicians.

Have you visited our YouTube Top 100 - A Weekly Chart of the 100 Most Subscribed YouTube Members, and our new Top 200 Weekly Chart, which has the top 200 Most Subscribed channels on YouTube? Each week we feature a video on the charts. This week's video is Michelle Waugh's cover of Paperweight, which we are also presenting here, below. Check out the Featured Video on our Top 100 and Top 200 Charts every week!

Featured Videos on our Weekly Charts get a few thousand views. The numbers do not appear on the videos on YouTube anymore like they once did. But our Google Analytics account shows that the Featured Video page on our charts get between 1500 and 2000 pageviews every week.

TwHub.comHere's something new! We have our own URL Shortening Service. http://TwHub.com serves short URLs that are needed on Twitter so links don't use up too many of the 140 characters Twitter allows. Links like http://TwHub.com/FV and http://TwHub.com/200 are shortened URLs to our Featured Video and Top 200 Chart. Here is a list of all URLs we shorten.

We will be watching four Music Videos by four talented women today...

But first, The News!

Tiffany Jo Allen gave us great news this week. She made it to the next round of the Jive Records / Sony Music Six Flags contest. Tiffany will be performing at the Six Flags Fiesta Texas park in San Antonio this Wednesday, August 18th, between 4:30 and 5 PM. Go see her if you can! Congrats on your success, Tiffany Jo!

Eveliiine gave us good news too. She is in the finals of the Joepie Sonic Angel contest and needs your votes between now and the 21st of August. Watch the video and go here to vote. Congrats on making it to the finals, Eveline!

11 year old Emily Brooke is in the Colgate Country Showdown songwriter's contest and has entered her excellent original song "Wild & Free." Click the pic to watch her play it at Tootsie's in Nashville. The contest ends August 31st. Click here to vote for Emily; I did! Good luck, Emily!

Funnyman Michael Boyce of YouTraxTVNews is back with another parody of the News. He makes fun of President Obama, Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton, Steven Slater, Charlie Rangel, Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton's wedding, Lindsay Lohan, Sarah Palin, Mel Gibson, Hugh Hefner, the Hollywood Sign, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Betty White. He also has a guest star, TheHandyGoddess. Funny stuff!

Thanks for reading our news items! Now, as a reward, here's a video of a Corgi dog taking a leap off a pier like Superman and doing a belly flop. It has over a million views in its first week online. Click the pic and enjoy!

Now, watch our four Music Videos!

Lauren Goodsmith just put up a wonderful music video for a song called "Never Enough." Lauren is 17 and lives in the UK. She does an awesome job singing and playing the guitar in this ballad, beautifully filmed by her Dad Martin. This haunting song will be stuck in your head; it's great! Check it out!

Michelle Waugh is a talented 15 year old singer / songwriter who lives in California. She has a great voice and is also good at playing the guitar. Recently, she really improved the sound of her music videos. Watch her cover of Paperweight by Joshua Radin. You'll love it! Also watch her great original song "When You Smile" here.

While watching Michelle's cover of Paperweight, I saw this video's thumbnail in the Suggestions column. I clicked and I'm glad I did. This is Melanie on the mellonbaby80 channel doing a very different version of Paperweight by Joshua Radin. She is a bit quieter than Michelle, but Melanie adds a lot of expressiveness which makes this a joy to watch. I've watched it four times already!

Katie on the acoustickatie24 channel is out with a new original song. This one is "about verbally abusive relationships and finally taking back your voice and attaining the strength to walk away." It's been just over a year since her last original song "Not Enough" came out. That one now has well over a million views! Katie has a great voice that sounds as good in the loud parts as it does in the soft ones. She also plays the guitar very well. Enjoy her latest original tune!

Now, here is Anna's article!

The Mystery of AgentXPQ

Lev Yilmaz is like the Picasso of YouTube, except he colors in with wonderful stories instead of paint. Most likely if you are not struck by contagious creativity
during watching one of his short films then you will feel it shortly after you have finished viewing one of his animations. Perhaps you will even join a film school to start animating, yourself. Many animation students might dream about working for colossal cartoon studios like Pixar but would you rather be a technician and work on Nemo's tail for 10 years or be a story teller and create something of your own?

If you are an animation enthusiast, you must have come across the impressive and inspiring series "Tales of Mere Existence" by AgentXPQ (Lev Yilmaz). This artist and film maker tells stories based on his life, described on his website as "stuff you think but don't talk about"; episodes of humorous, self and socio-critical cartoons in which most of us find moments from our own lives we identify with and often smile about.

We encounter common situations like arguing about which film you are going to watch with your boyfriend or a mother and her concerns, and it may seem like a caricature of our own mamas...

If you really like his comics, you probably own a copy of Lev Yilmaz's book; your
companion "Sunny Side Down" will brighten the day, not just when you are feeling
low. How many of you know about his other channel though? In 2007, Lev and his brother launched the channel ingredientxvideo, where you can see a combination of many different types of videos. You can watch the baby steps of "Tales of Mere Existence," which back then had great stories. This is probably the x factor in both usernames but the ingredient evolved with the influence of Picasso's, "The Mystery of Picasso" from 1956...

into a cool 007 Agent. The technique he uses is similar to the painting technique Picasso used, filming while working on a transparent canvas. You can also see some puppet animations and a skit or two on his alternative channel, and some animations (not always technically perfect but narratively beautiful).

In the "Hellhammer" skit, we see Lev and his brother's poetic sides...

It's the kind of video one could watch over and over again. Last but not least, Lev is a superhero even if he denies it in Evildraft...

His special power is to cheer people up and entertain, and it's real, genuine happiness he spreads - not the artificial smiles which often surround us. Most people try to cover lack of ideas and plot though great special effects. AgentXPQ is a perfect example of a channel that doesn't need sparks; the stories move and make the viewer think and sometimes one might even learn something from them.

He denies his ability to fly but he grows wings like Supermario grabbing a feather, every time a letter hits a paper with a clickety-clack sound. Most superheros fly alone; he takes us with him through time and space on his back, trying to save the world from lack of humor and to erase your frown and change it to a smile.

If you want to discover how it all started, check out his secondary channel ingredientxvideo and if you don't know about AgentXPQ - where have you been, tune in!

MissHannahMinx - YouTubeStar!

Diana! Our guest blogger, Diana (beautiful picture at left), is back with an interesting review of 4 videos by MissHannahMinx. We first found HannahMinx on YouTube last Fall. She is a college student who likes to wear cat-ear headbands and speak Japanese. She is a black haired punk rock fan with big eyes and a cute voice. She is 21, lives in Philadelphia, and is a single Scorpio.

What's a Minx? Hannah defines it on her MySpace page: an elusive feline or flirtatious girl living in urban areas, loving lace and black ribbons, skateboards and punk music. Last November, Hannah had just a few thousand subscribers. This week, she moves up 3 spots on the Top 200 chart to #190 by adding 4812 new subs last week, for a total of 87,362! Click HERE to see the chart of MissHannahMinx's Subscriber History for the last 10 weeks.

You are about to notice, as you see the video thumbnails below, that Hannah uses a downward camera angle and low cut shirts to show off her cleavage. This has led some to contend that she is just a "big chested chick" who likes to "show her boobs". But MissHannahMinx is much more than that. Get past the YouTube sex stereotype and give Hannah a chance. Watch the videos and see if you don't find her to be pleasant and entertaining!

But first, The News!

Thanks to everyone who regularly visits our YouTube Top 100 Weekly Chart! Now we expanded it into a Top 200 Chart. You'll be able to see who fell off the bottom of the Top 100 and who is climbing their way up to soon debut on the Top 100. Check it out; click the pic.

This week's Featured Video on the Top 100 Weekly Chart is a cover of Miranda Lambert's song "White Liar" by bubbly and talented singer Christina Amato. She is 17, lives in Las Vegas and has 67 excellent singing videos that have earned her 765 Subscribers. Follow her on Twitter and visit her MySpace page. Christina also does an amazing cover of "Hallelujah" that you really must watch, it's beautiful! Recent Tweet: "My Glee audition link! http://www.myspace.com/gleeauditions?link=11414658 (give me gold stars! )"

Okay, now here is Diana's review of MissHannaMinx's recent videos!

This amazingly beautiful and sexy young women studied in Japan but is now back in America. Most of the videos were made while she was studying in Japan. She is adorable and so fun to watch!!! Check below to see what I mean as I review her 4 latest videos.

Ok, so there are lots of comments on her videos about why she uses the word "Minxy". In this video, she explains it in an upbeat and adorable way while flaunting her Extreme Sex Appeal to both sexes. She looks amazing and sexy while still keeping a classy look about herself. I adore her look.

As a large chested plus size model I see how men look at us and to be honest its not always wanted. If you wear a low cut shirt, you are looking to be sexy but still respected. The comments I have read on her pages are disgusting and crude and yet she does Not delete them. They say she is looking for attention but I think she is so comfortable with herself that she does not care who reads the bad comments because she knows she is a strong and beautiful women and I for one say GO FOR IT GIRL!!!

Ahhh, now were you the Minxy Akuma (Devil) or the Minxy Tenshi (Angel) when you made a hard choice today? What a great video! She teaches you a bit of Japanese with humor and of course with her sexy adorable self. Let's see... I would say I was on my Minxy Akuma's side today as I had some yummy white chocolate and shhhhh don't tell anyone because I am on a diet :0)

LOL, well now who is Wrap cat? He is an adorable cat who is wrapped for some reason in bandages. He also has a little sister named boot! Ok this reminds me of a darker Hello kitty but I just love him so much I am thinking of asking her how can I get one for myself! But as she said he can be hard to be around as he is kind of bossy :0). Well really now what stuffed black cat isn't bossy???

I am going to be her newest subscriber because this girl just rocksss. Need something to make you smile? Watch these videos. It also does not hurt that the 21 year old young women is VERY easy on the eyes.

Now for the last video. I see she must love that low cut tank top because in 90% of her videos she has it on! Hehe, thats just a side note, I happen to love the shirt - its sexy and classy and well hey I own one almost like it :)

I can't say I understand what this video was about but I will say it kept me watching till the end, LOL... What an interesting little minx this girl is, a modern day Elvira. I love the fact she is not just sitting there talking but she uses effects and greenscreening to spice up her videos. I can honestly say I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!!

Battle For Number ONE Female!

Our friend VenetianPrincess is in a battle with Miley Cyrus for the Number One Most Subscribed Female of All Time on YouTube. As we see in this week's Top 100 Weekly Chart, Miley's MileyMandy channel is at number 10 Most Subscribers of All Time, and VenetianPrincess is right behind at number 11. BUT VenetianPrincess gained 12,239 new subscribers last week while Miley only added 3,129. So Miley's lead is shrinking!

If I beat Miley, I'll be the #1 most subscribed female of all time! Please help me in this revolution, by sharing this video and encouraging people to subscribe to my channel. Still love you Miley, but girl- it's ON! :-)

Let's show the world that for once, the little guy stands a chance against the big wigs. Plus it's all in good fun!

---
Featuring many of my wonderful viewers.

Generic Miley music composed and performed by: Steve Goldstein of http://www.youtube.com/theunattended

Vocals written by me, sung and edited by me:

---
And to those saying this video is me begging for subscribers: This video is the farthest thing from begging. I work hard on my videos, I think the large following that I have acquired without the help of celebrity fame speaks for itself. This was all in good fun.

My concept behind this video was like a pep rally. Where everyone teams together with a positive energy to achieve something together.
---

Lyrics:

You dont understand
What it takes to make my vids

Make no mistake
Miley, I like you but
Its time for you to step aside
I'Il tell you why
So listen to me now

In real life you are such a super star
But here on YouTube
You can only go so far

I just beat Demi
and Selena so
Better pack your bags if you catch my flow

Everybody join the Team VP Campaign
Tell all your friends to subscribe here
And join the train.

Together we can beat Miley
And show the world
That the number one female spot
Can be a normal girl

Google Adsense Video Units

Last month, Google introduced Video Units to their Adsense program. People and companies with blogs and websites can embed YouTube videos in their sites of "relevant YouTube partner content." Read all about this new program in this post on Google's Adsense blog.

I decided to add a Video Unit to this post and see what videos Google plays. When setting up the Video Unit, you can choose categories of video to target to your site, select content from individual YouTube partners, or have video automatically targeted to your site content. I picked the third choice. Google is supposed to play videos that are relevant to the content of this blog. This is similar to what they do with their text and image Adsense ads. I was able to add several "hints" as to what kind of videos to play. I entered "music, singer, vlog, funny" as my hints. Those are the types of videos we often cover in this YouTubeStars blog.

I'll embed the Video Unit after this paragraph. First, I'd like to thank all my loyal readers who have been with us from the start, over a year and a half ago! I'd like to thank all the new readers who have dropped by along the way. I'd like to thank everyone who has subscribed to the RSS feed of this blog. Finally, thanks to everyone who checks out the action on our YouTube Top 100 chart - A Weekly Chart of the 100 Most Subscribed YouTube Members. We have been tracking statistics for over 400 members since September of 2006 - sign up and let us track your stats too!
