YouTube Stars!

This is post number 190 at YouTubeStars! We've been doing this for over 4 years now and our popularity continue to increase. Google Analytics says we had 17,421 pageviews in the last month; thanks to all our readers!

Also, we have been publishing our "YouTube Top 100 - A Weekly Chart of the 100 Most Subscribed YouTube Members" every week since mid 2006, and now our Chart gets almost as many pageviews as this blog. A few months ago, we launched our Top 200 Weekly Chart, which has the top 200 Most Subscribed channels on YouTube. This is data that you can only get from our Chart. YouTube doesn't provide this information. They only show the top 100 Most Subscribed channels. So check out our Top 100 and Top 200 Charts every week!

Savannah Berry, whose YouTube channel is SavannahSings gave us some exciting news this week. While vacationing in Orlando with her family, Savannah auditioned at Disney Studios for the American Idol Experience and qualified for a producers audition, allowing her to skip all the long lines! She auditions for American Idol next month; good luck Savannah!
Wait, there's more! Savannah was just chosen to open for platinum selling artist Sammy Kershaw at the July 17th fundraiser for the E.C.H.O Foundation at at Tin Hall, in Texas. Read more, here.


We mentioned in our Mike Lombardo Interview that Mike was competing at OurStage to open for John Mayer. He came in first out of hundreds of bands after rounds of fan judging. Now the OurStage people will select the winning band that gets to open for John Mayer. Click the pic and watch the video (which is kind of loud) - Mike will tell you all about it!


We have been writing about the Emo Kids since we first began this blog over 4 years ago. "Matt" was one of the first YouTubeStars and helped to make YouTube the sensation it is today. He went away for a while, came back, left again, but is now back with a new string of videos. Eclipse, the third movie in the Twilight Saga, was released last week and has already taken in $300 million at the Box Office. But not everyone likes the books. The vlogbrothers have organized VidCon 2010, a conference for and about videomakers. It runs from July 9th through 11th and takes place in Los Angeles, which just had a 5.9 magnitude Earthquake! Aldo Blaga is a 23 year old man from Romania who has one of the best singing voices on YouTube! I've heard thousands of singers on YouTube in the last 5 years and I know what I'm talking about. Just have a listen to his cover of Crying, originally done by Roy Orbison in the summer of 1961. Then listen to any other song he uploaded and you'll be just as pleased. This man is going to go far!





Charming and popular YouTube musician Tiffany Jo Allen is back with an awesome cover of Gnarles Barkley's "Crazy." Tiffany Jo has about 110 Thousand subscribers and over 28 Million Total Upload views, making her one of the more popular musicians on YouTube. She is well liked because of her awesome singing and guitar playing, as well as her high level of interaction with fans by responding to comments and talking to them at her many shows. Watch any video on her channel and you'll be glad you did!





Irish lass Chloe Wilders is only 14 but has already done some live shows and written her own songs. Here's one called "Naked" - Chloe does a great job of singing and playing guitar, and listen to the lyrics, they're quite good! Watch her other videos, including her latest one "Gypsy" by Shakira, on her YouTube channel.





We have been watching and writing about OlgaKay for almost three years now. This young Russian actress and juggler living in LA has always been fun to watch and now she is getting the recognition she deserves. She stars in this beautifully made short interactive film about Circus life, which already has nearly 3 Million views and has just been up a little over a week. Olga keeps climbing up the YouTube Top 200 Weekly Chart of Most Subscribed channels. This week, she climbed three spots up to #121 Most Subscribed. It won't be long before she enters the Top 100!

So do you like the new colors? That Orange theme was getting old! Then again, I should have kept it until Halloween was over. Too late, Blue is in and Orange is out.

Well, tomorrow is Halloween. I hope you're ready. What are you going to be? What candy are you giving out? Here's a few videos to celebrate this frightful holiday!

But first, The News!

What happened to the OfficialTwilightFilm channel??? According to YouTube, "This account is SUSPENDED!" Is this some Halloween trick or some sort of publicity stunt for the upcoming New Moon movie? This was the official channel for Summit Entertainment - worldwide theatrical motion picture development, financing, production and distribution studio. They are producing the Twilight Saga movies. There's no news of this on their website. This just happened today. Eventually, there should be news of what happened. Check here on the Twilight News Feed.


What are you doing AFTER Halloween? How about writing a novel? That's what HayleyGHoover is doing this November, which is National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in one month, and she's done it twice already! Watch the vid and see if you have what it takes to meet this creative challenge.


Did you see the streaming Live U2 concert on YouTube last weekend? I did, and it was pretty cool! According to this news story, "YouTube's webcast of a U2 concert was watched by nearly 10 million people, the video site's largest streaming event ever... The full 2 1/2-hour concert is available on YouTube. The rebroadcast video has been watched by more than 1.1 million viewers."


Nadine Sykora (Naders07) is spending today, her Birthday, at a fundraising event for animals. Click the pic at the left to watch the video for more info, including links. Thanks to Nadine for promoting the SPCA and the work they do to rescue animals, and Happy Birthday!


Okay, now let's watch some Halloween Videos!


Everyone knows that VenetianPrincess is YouTube's Halloween Queen! She loves this holiday and transforms her house with elaborate decorations every year. You can see some of her scary props in this video, as well as her dog in a bumblebee outfit! VP asks in the video, "What are you going to be for Halloween?" See the answers in the comments and video responses, and add your own reply!





Raz0rsex does a Public Service Anouncement to educate the candy giving public on how to select the proper Halloween treat. "Quality over Quantity," she says! What's the worst thing you ever got for Halloween? What's your favorite candy bar? Lately, mine is Twix with Snickers a close second. I'm giving out Twix this year. I have more than enough, which means I get plenty of leftovers!





OlgaKay has made a mini Horror Movie for Halloween! Watch as Olga nearly dies in a T-bone car crash, then gets her throat slashed, yikes! But fear not, Olga gets revenge using her Martial Arts skills. Go Olga! Be sure to answer the question she poses at the end of the show - How would you like to die in a Horror Movie?





You may have thought that vampires only think about getting their next blood fix. But apparently, some have a love of Flute playing! NinaFlute, A.k.a. Vampina, gives us a flute lesson for fanged ones. Nina always looks good, but this Goth get-up really seems to suit her! Enjoy!





Finally, watch what happens when two doggies make their own Halloween costumes and head out for some Trick or Treating Fun! Be safe this Halloween. Have fun, don't be too mean with your pranks, and be sure not to eat all your candy in one day!

OlgaKay is a rising YouTubeStar! She's up to 16,529 subscribers and almost 2 Million Total Video Views! Cordayrox is a wonderful young singer who has posted many entertaining music videos. She is back with her friend Amy, singing a duet of the song "White Flag." They are really good!



YsabellaBrave is one of the best singers on YouTube. She started out by making music videos of her singing old Standards like Caberet, Travellin' Man, All Shook Up and many more. Lately she has posted excellent music vids of her original songs. In this film, posted on her talk channel, she discusses Hecklers and haters. If you've been affected by rude internetters, you'll want to listen to this vid:



OMGitsLucy814 is one of the great new young vloggers on YT. She has made vlogs about Twilight and Harry Potter, talked about news of the day, and told us about her summer vacation. Livingpassion recently uploaded a video in which she recited an enjoyable original poem, as she has often done before. This time, PeriUrban decided to set the words to music! Livingpassion responds to his value-added video by covering Peri's song. She sings her lyrics to his tune, pretty cool!




UndiscoveredJulie is back with a skit featuring her character "Totally Claire." Claire will teach you how to be confident! Very funny and creative, watch and enjoy!




Artemisbell has made hundreds of cool dance videos. She plays a popular song and then films herself dancing with high energy to the beat. Always graceful and stylish, here is a recent dance from artemisbell. Be sure to also watch the animated tribute response video!




Juststircrazy is one of the great new vloggers on YouTube. But her vids are more than vlogs, they are creative mini-movies; well written, acted, filmed and edited. Don't get the idea that Juststircrazy is an actor, she is very real. Check out this video about what Dance is, in her opinion.

Here's four interesting videos from four YouTube guys. We'll see two music videos - one is a cover of a classic Sinatra song and the other is an original song about YouTube Stars! Then we'll hear from two of the "wise men" of YouTube as they talk about violence and morality in the online age.

Marina - HotForWords (my new friend, see this post) - was on The O'Reilly Factor with Bill O'Reilly last Monday night! They talked about the origin of five words that Bill likes to use on his show. I was very happy to hear him mention how many Total Video Views Marina has received on YouTube! He got that data from our Total Video Views widget, which appears front and center on the www.HotForWords.com website. Excellent appearance, Marina! And thanks, Bill O'Reilly for indirectly promoting our Total Video Views widget!

Did you notice that last week, our friend VenetianPrincess debuted at number 56 on the Top 100 Weekly Chart? WOW, that's amazing! Jodie went from just over 27 thousand subscribers on 4/6 to over 43 thousand on 4/13! (See her chart, here) She has been getting good press coverage in newspapers and on TV, and her latest parody vid about Hillary Clinton - Hillary, Be My Best Friend - has over 800 thousand views in its first 10 days. Congrats on your success, Jodie!

Smooth crooner Daniel Bonaire performs a great cover of a song originally done by Frank Sinatra. Daniel sings the song to his favorite female YouTubeStars. He includes pics of the ladies in his video. I'll be sure to mention some of them and their videos in future posts here on YouTubeStars! If you enjoy this song by Daniel, go watch his other music videos. He has 11 so far and they're all very good!




YouTube comedian nerimon has made a parody music video with his own lyrics sung to the "Rock Star" melody from Nickleback. He sings, I'll be a YouTubeStar!" Well, now he is an official YouTubeStar, he's in our blog. :) Check out this popular video with almost 40 thousand views in its first week and a half.




PeriUrban has replied to another video that was about the Florida teens who jumped one of their teen girl friends, on his urbanblog channel. His point is that every generation thinks the younger generation is behaving badly compared to how their own generation used to be. But that's not true, and we shouldn't look back - Peri believes we should act charitably while working to create a better future. Peri and friends are working on a new site where people can express themselves in a responsible way. Let's see what they come up with!




Tom, tlg847, responded to the same video that Peri responded to. His thought is that our perspective is limited, we only see certain things at certain times. We don't realize that the world is actually getting more civilized over time. Despite the shocking headlines we see everyday, we are actually living in the safest most civilized moment in history. He references a talk by the brilliant Harvard Evolutionary Psycologist Steven Pinker, watch that video too!

As mentioned in our last post, the second San Franciso YouTube Gathering took place last weekend. There have been many videos uploaded that show what happened at the event. Here is a collection of some of the best videos of this YouTube Gathering.

First, an interesting new item. It has just been reported that Steve Chen, co-founder of YouTube, recently stated that live streaming video would be added to the list of featured offer by YouTube by the end of this year. Of course, these capability is already available to users of StickAm and LiveVideo. In fact, I watched parts of the live feed of the event on LiveVideo last weekend! I put up the link to this live feed in our last post; I hope you got a chance to check in and see what was happening! Live streaming video is just another reason to sign up with LiveVideo, even if you already have a YouTube account. Please click on the blue "Less Tube. More You!" ad in the upper left corner of this page to go to LiveVideo.

In one of the videos below, a new website is mentioned - TubeCloud. Go there and enter a YouTube channel name and it goes in the cloud. The more people that enter that channel, the bigger the tag in the cloud. Its basically a tag cloud of YouTubers. Click here to nominate my YouTube channel on TubeCloud. We would like to wish all of our readers a Happy Thanksgiving! If you're not from the United States, Thanksgiving is a holiday where we give thanks for the people and things that we have in our lives. We would like to thank YouTube for providing this free video sharing service, and all the viewers and videomakers for creating the YouTube community. Also, thanks to all the readers of YouTubeStars!

In this post, we'll see a Thanksgiving video from Olga, the juggling actress. We'll hear a song from Krista, the 13-year-old singer; and also another singing performance from Callianne and Kimberly.

But first, we would like to announce a new website for you to visit. A few weeks ago, we wrote about Oprah on YouTube. Several members of the community commented that with all these corporate channels on YouTube these days, it's not easy to find videos on the Most Viewed list that is made by "regular people."



In response to this problem, we created a "Most Viewed NonCorp Videos" list. This list is based on YouTube's Most Viewed videos list, but with the Corporate Channels filtered out. To keep the list of Corporations to filter up to date, we've put a "Flag this Channel as Corporate!" button to the right of each video. If you see a video in the list that you think is on a Corporate Channel, please click the "Flag this Channel as Corporate!" link to the right of that video. We'll review the channel and if we agree that it is Corporate, it's videos will be filtered out of the list in the future. Please check out our "Most Viewed NonCorp Videos list right now! If you see a Corporate Channel, be sure to Flag it. Thanks for helping us keep this list Corporate-Free!

Callianne watched this singing video by Kimberly and decided to remix it. She added her own vocals - twice! Callianne sings low and high harmony along with Kim and the result is fantastic! Callianne is a member of the band "Beasts and Superbeasts" and you can buy their CD from the link in the description of this video. I bought a copy; it's great!
