She has been on the Ellen Show, Dancing With The Stars, Saturday Night Live and The Grammys. YouTube videos featuring her have over 1 Billion combined views. She is 12 years old! This is Maddie Zeigler.

Maddie won't become a teen until this September but she already is famous. Living in the Pittsburgh PA area, Maddie spends hours every day in a dance studio practicing her craft. She has appeared on the Lifetime reality show, Dance Moms, which led to her being cast as the sole performer in the video for Sia's hit song Chandelier. This video has about 650 Million views since it was released last May. It features Maddie and Maddie alone, dancing in a beige leotard and sporting a sharply cropped shoulder length platinum wig with bangs or a fringe as those in the UK call it. Quite amazing dance moves and dramatic facial expressions, which have captured the viewer's attention, here is why!

Sia is an Australian singer who turns 40 this year. Sia Kate Isobelle Furler has been active in the music business since the 90s. She has become very successful, and is in the list of the 100 wealthiest Australians. She has chosen not to show her face in some performances as she would rather not have her personal life affected by her fame. In the recently televised Grammy Awards, she sung with her back to the audience while Kristen Wiig from Saturday Night Live and Maddie Zeigler danced. Sia's desire to not be seen as much has led to Maddie Zeigler being chosen to be the sole performer in 2 or 3 recent Sia videos.

The one video where Maddie is not alone is the video for Elastic Heart by Sia, which also features Shia LaBeouf who was the male lead in the Transformers and many other movies. Maddie and Shia are cage fighting in leotards in this video! They appear in a round cage similar to a huge bird cage, and perform dance/fight moves. Maddie Ziegler is playing the part of a werewolf, and is required to bare her teeth and punch and bite Shia. This video became controversial but further highlights Maddie Ziegler's proficient dance moves. Check this video out! It currently has about 220 Million views since its January debut.

Just 3 days ago, the Sia / Maddie Ziegler trilogy concluded with this third video featuring Maddie in the same outfit. In this video, she is not dancing, but simply gesturing wildly with her arms and hands while making hughly emotional facial expressions. The song is Big Girls Cry by Sia. It starts with Maddie moving her hands around her face but soon turns sinister with another set of hands on her, which then lift her up off the ground! What do you think of this rather intense performance? Watch and see; it already is approaching 10 Million views in just a few days!

Add up the numbers. In just these three videos, Maddie Ziegler has about 880 Million views and counting. Maddie appears in many other videos including her Grammy appearance and episode of the Ellen Show. Check them out here. I hope you are all enjoying the Holidays! Be careful as you travel and stay warm, because, Baby it's Cold Outside!

If your heart catches a chill, it might become Frozen! We all know that "Only an act of true love can thaw a frozen heart." That act of love could be from a potential romantic partner or the caring embrace of a sister. In the Disney movie Frozen, Idina Menzel played animated Elsa who had freezing powers that caused some trouble that eventually got reversed by sisterly love. In the video for her Duet with Michael Buble singing the classic "Baby It's Cold Outside" we see an 11 year old girl playing the video part for Idina with an equally young suitor. In either case, the singing is superb!

Emily Carey (Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheEmilyCarey just turned 11 last April but she already had acting experience before cast for the female lead in this video. The British child actor was in the plays Shrek The Musical and The Sound Of Music. Last month, she began playing a role in Casualty, a Medical Emergency show on the BBC. This post is for people who are 18 years old or older. If you are not yet 18, please click here to read an excellent article I wrote about the popular Nickelodeon TV show, iCarly.

I have known about this new site for a few months now, and I've been debating about whether to write about it, or not. I am now posting on it because I want to get the word out to parents with younger kids, or people with younger brothers or sisters. If your children have access to the internet, they will more than likely hear about this site and may be interested in visiting it. Read this post and watch the 4 videos to understand what this site is about. Then decide if you want your children to visit it, or not.

ChatRoulette (CR) is a website that connects the webcam on your computer to the webcam on someone else's computer, at random. You will see and hear them, and they will see and hear you. You can also type to each other. You have no idea who's image is going to pop into the top window of the CR screen. You have no advanced warning of what they might be doing. You also have no idea if they are actually on the webcam or if they have hacked the site and are playing a pre-recorded video, which is not uncommon.

In many cases, it is fun and interesting to see who shows up to video chat with you on CR. The videos below will give you a taste of what kind of craziness goes on at CR. But please be warned! A high percentage, as high as 10% or more, of the people who will pop up in the video box will be guys who have their sexual parts exposed. This is something that you probably don't want to see yourself, and you wouldn't want your younger children or siblings seeing this. There is no way to know what will pop up in the video box. You can "Next" the person, which disconnects them and brings up a new connection in a few seconds. But you will never know what they may be doing.

Women do not expose themselves as often on CR, but there are often groups of guys using CR who encourage females they may be connected to, to flash their chest, etc. Please be aware of my main point - you never know who will randomly be connected with you when you go on CR, and what they will be doing or showing. The rules on the CR site are succinct: "Rules: 16+, clothes, report button" so if you do visit the site and see inappropriate behavior, use the Report Button!

Here are 4 videos recorded from the CR site that are very popular on YouTube right now. They will give you a taste of what goes on, on the CR site. Beware - there is some bad language in these videos.




MeMeMolly has been on YouTube for years and lately has been making videos for the RocketBoom channel. Molly gives an introduction to the site, letting you know how to do the initial setup. It doesn't take long before Molly runs into a guy with his penis out - it occurs at 1:40 and they have blurred the scene out. Molly agrees with me; at 2:26 she says she would not recommend it for anyone under 18, or those at work.






"This video is not suitable for children" - this is the opening warning in this video. Adults may get a laugh out of 2 guys who are improvising comments and songs in response to whoever shows up in their video box. One comment they make is, "Aren't you glad we're not a couple of naked guys!" Of course they did get connected to a guy masturbating, at one point. I repeat, you might not want your kids on this website!





This video starts off by stating, "Viewer Discretion Advised, This video may contain swears" - and it does on 2 occasions. But for adults, you may be amused and impressed by the improv this man does. He sings an improvised song in response to whatever he sees in the CR video box. "Merton" of the PianoChatImprov channel just joined on March 08, 2010 and only has 2 videos so far. But he was already up to #79 on our YouTube Top 100 Weekly chart. This video has over 3 Million views in the last 6 weeks.





Ben Folds did something similar to Merton, but he did it live in front of 2,000+ people. This video starts out with the comment that "there are dirty words, ... but we edited out the penises." This video has 3.5+ Million views.

Fred is Number Four this week on the YouTube Top 100 Weekly Chart! All the kids are subscribing because they love his vids. Since he's so popular with the younger crowd, I decided to let my 10-year-old niece and her friend write this review.

Hi, this is Ashley and Kadeeja. We like Fred. All the kids in our grade watch his videos. We like him because he is stupid but funny at the same time. We like his voice and when he sings.


In Fred Stalks Judy the best part is when Fred takes the photos of himself for Judy.
It was funny because he was doing all of his photos in slow motion also because he was doing weird photo poses. Also another funny part in Fred Stalks Judy was when Fred goes into Judy’s house and then goes into her room and looks at her stuff. So I really liked Fred stalks Judy and thought it was great.




In Fred Loses His Meds it is funny because he kept saying he needed his meds and was freaking out. Also he went outside when there was a thunderstorm and people were supposed to be inside. But then he went inside screaming and looking for his meds because he said he was addicted to them and he needed them. Then his mother came home and said she took his meds on accident, and then he took his meds and was all better.




In Fred on May Day it is really funny because he laughs like an evil dude. Also he gives Judy (Fred’s lover) his mom's used underwear. Also it was funny because he sings in each video and trys to hit a high note.




In Fred Meets Bertha it is really really funny because he said when he was waiting for his mom outside a bar and then gangsters ganged up on Fred and then Fred said hay nobody messes with Fred so back off. Also it is funny because Bertha kissed Fred and Bertha told Fred to do bad things like throw a beer bottle at someone car.

This time, YouTubeStars presents four vids that the kids find very very funny! Each has millions of views, so it's obvious that people keep watching these and passing them around among their friends. Nigahiga is the Number Three Most Subscribed YouTube Channel, according to the Top 100 Weekly Chart. These two Oriental young men have several "How to be" videos that each have millions of views. Watch this one and learn How to be Gangster, their most popular vid with almost 10 Million views!




Smosh is another two-man videomaking team. They have been Number One Most Subscribed for many months, moving into that spot when LonelyGirl15 cooled off. With so many subscribers (over 340 Thosand!), each of their videos quickly gets over a million views. In this silly skit, Boxman gets a girlfriend. What will happen? "Humans and boxes don't intertwine!" Hmmm, is it the Montigues and Capulets all over again? Watch and see - almost 4 million people have so far!

Here we go again! YouTube is experiencing another Real/Fake debate over Daxflame, an alleged 15 year old socially awkward young man who vblogs, often emotionally, sometimes in a dinner jacket. Daxflame, who claims that his real first name is Bernice, debuted this week in the Top 100 Weekly Chart at number 73 with 8798 subscribers! Dax just joined YouTube on January 2nd of this year and he already has uploaded 43 videos, most of them are what he calls "video diaries". Have a look at these four video diary episodes and decide for yourself - is this a socially awkward young man who sometimes has a fit, or is this a talented actor with writers and a crew? Is Dax real or is he following in the footsteps of Lonelygirl15, LittleLoca and the Emo Kids?


My First Video Diary Entry

In this first video, Daxflame introduces himself and talks about his real name, Bernice. Although he stumbles over his words, he does appear somewhat confident about himself. Look at the tags he chose for this video: diary video blog teenager boy human cool very handsome. The video has almost 60 thousand views and almost 200 comments including: "That was hilarious! I love it!", "You are so cute.", "ur a good actor man keep putting up them movies." and "GOD I WANNA PUNCH U IN THE FACE".

Second Blog Entry: I will befriend Jacob.

In the second Daxflame video, we are introduced to the Jacob character. Jacob is featured in many of the early Dax vids. In the video description, Dax says that there's "a little bit of a plot twist in the last 6-7 seconds." In the video, Dax ends by saying that "you gotta take a risk sometimes." At the 21 second mark, Dax mentions that Jacob has a girlfriend. Now, some commenters have theorized that Dax is romantically interested in Jacob, but it's clear that Dax knows from the start that Jacob likes girls. So is this "risk" about trying to start a romantic relationship with Jacob, is it about making new friends in general, or is it about the risk of putting out a new show on YouTube?

Dax starts out this third episode calmly enough, but he comes completely unhinged by the end of the film. Is this a very strange comedy or a wierd but true tale of teenage awkwardness?

Sixteenth video diary entry: The best Friday EVER!!!

Jumping ahead in the series, we'll end this look at the Dax man with a totally strange comedy/mania performance/episode. It's really two videos in one. It starts with Dax pouring Hershey's chocolate syrup on his face and ends with Dax stuffing lots of Orbit gum in his mouth. If you appreciate this kind of comedy, check out the rest of Daxflame's videos.
